Holy Rosary Church in the Homewood neighborhood in Pittsburgh was built by Ralph Adams Cram in the Catalan Gothic style in 1930. This church has my favorite rose window in the Pittsburgh area, designed by Harry Wright Goodhue, the nephew of Bertram Goodhue. In 1948, the church was the largest in the Pittsburgh catholic diocese. In 1992, the population of the area had shrunk so much that the church had to merge with five other parishes in the area which formed the St Charles Lwanga parish. I haven’t been able to go inside, as the church is now just used as offices for the St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Parish. It was the first church I visited after becoming interested in architecture photography and is built by my favorite American church architect, so it’s quite a special place to me.
